Benny Goodman Sextet - Stompin' At The Savoy

This was originally composed by Edgar Sampson in 1934 and it was named after the Savoy Ballroom. Actually the song was written and arranged for Chick Webb's band but Goodman is often credited for it because his recording had more succes. Andy Razaf wrote the lyrics which were sometimes performed by Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone or Harry Connick Jr.
These song is part from a concert that took place at the famous Carnegie Hall in Midtown Manhattan in the year 1939. It can be found on a compilation named 'From Spirituals To Swing' produced by John Hammond.
